Comparing Xenon and LED Headlights
As you are driving through the night, your headlights improve your visibility but you want to avoid blinding other drivers. Your vehicle can be equipped with xenon or LED headlights, but they have some key differences. Here is what you should know about xenon and LED headlights so you can choose the best headlights for you.
Xenon Headlights
A xenon light is also known as a high-intensity discharge (HID) light. It’s a bright, gas-filled light that is common in luxury vehicles. Xenon lights tend to last longer and use less energy than halogen lights since they do not have filaments. Since they can be particularly bright, some xenon lights have automatic systems that adjust the beam pattern. However, they do use more energy than LED lights and tend to die quicker as a result.
LED Headlights
LED (light-emitting diode) headlights appear whiter and are very energy efficient. LED lights use less energy than halogen and xenon lights and generate less heat, and they are smaller. This means that the lights offer a better overall illumination of the road, though they are not as bright as xenon lights. LEDs can also last longer than other types of headlights. Due to their efficiency and durability, LED lights are becoming increasingly popular in cars.
